Game Review:
Are you a fan of Sushi? This is your food favourite turned into a card game. Not only will this game make you crave for some Sushi but it wil also make you love Dumplings (as collecting them may just be the best strategy for this game). The thing I absolutely love about Sushi Go Party is the fact that it's an excellent introduction to card drafting. The game play is basically getting players to take a card, pass the rest and try to gather the most point. Due to its uncomplicated nature, it's very easy to see that the strategy in this game reolves around first trying to score the best cards for yourself and, second, trying to deny your opponents of what they might need. Cards are revealed and left face up in front of players, making it very easy to see what others are trying to accumulate. This could work in your favour, say for example on a turn where you can't take something for yourself, you can just take something that blocks your opponent from scoring more points.
If you're playing with my boyfriend, he will always try to collect as many Dumplings as he can. Being the amazing person that I am, I try my very best to collect valuable points by taking all the Dumplings away from him.
Even if you're not a Sushi lover, you still have to play this game! It's so cute! Just take a look at the art work of this game. My advice, don't play this game on an empty stomach, you'll just end up craving lots and lots of food after. The publisher, Hashbro, really went out of their way to make this game easy to learn making it family friendly. The other thing I love about SGP is the endless replayability. The game suggests several card setups depending on what type of game you want to play. If nothing works out, feel free to create your won as long as you adhere to the card requirements.
It's the perfect game to pull out on big gatherings. It's hard to say no those Sushi smiles!
